Jaguar used the New York auto show to add yet another variant of the F-Type to its lineup, bringing the total number of F-Type flavors to 24(!) with the debut of the four-cylinder model.
Powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ingenium engine producing 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, the newest F-Type coupe and convertible will both be able to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 155. The 2.0-liter models will be paired exclusively with the eight-speed Quickshift transmission — there is no manual transmission option.
“The 296-hp Ingenium petrol engine is engineered to deliver a compelling blend of performance, refinement and efficiency," said Ron Lee, engineering director of powertrain at Jaguar Land Rover. "Cutting-edge technologies including electrohydraulic-intake valve lift control, integrated exhaust manifold and a twin-scroll turbocharger with ceramic ball bearings make this the most advanced petrol engine we’ve ever produced. Not only is this the most powerful four-cylinder ever offered in a production Jaguar, it also develops the highest specific power and torque ratings of any engine in the F-Type range."
