April 2006: A racing Mustang for everyman…with $200K in the bank

Back in April of 2006, Dan Davis, director of Ford Racing Technology, built the Man Racer Ford Mustang. It was a 550-hp take on the ponycar with a Roush-Yates engine and chassis massaged by Multimatic. His plan was for a whole spec series, possibly featuring Chevy Camaros and Dodge Challengers too. The series didn't materialize, but the Man Racer was eventually homolgated for FIA GT3 competition, and contested a handful of events between 2007 and 2008. Steven Cole Smith has more below.
