Ahead of the Y2K bug, Chevrolet showed off its racing version of its new 'Vette — C5-R. The racing version of the Corvette marked a big return to Chevy’s factory-backed racing efforts — sure, the C4 Corvette did see a racetrack as part of the Corvette Challenge series, but that spec series was limited to Chevy’s sports car. The C5-R would ultimately set the foundation for the current breed of race 'Vette — the C7-R.
