The toy universe needs more Group B rally car models, and we hope that in a few months their ranks will be joined by a Lego Ideas project powersliding its way to official Lego production approval.
This particular Lego Ideas project recreates the famous Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 rally car that dominated the sport until Group B itself was disbanded in 1986. Before Group B died, the unique 205 hatch managed to win Drivers' and Constructors' titles in 1985 and 1986, holding the mantle of the most dominant car in the sport during its last two years; it won a total of 16 World Rally Championship rounds between 1984 and the very end of the series.
In other words, this is a Lego set tribute that's sorely overdue, a set that captures not just the car but the slightly mad spectators along the rally route (and even a little chunk of the route itself).
Lego Ideas builder AbFab1974 answered the call with this eye-catching rendition of the T16 Evo2 model, depicted in mid-flight and complete with a group of Group B fans. The model itself is built to a smaller single-seat scale so it doesn't dwarf the figures and the scenery, but it is still unmistakably a 205 Group B rally car.
