Hillclimb cars can run the gamut from mildly modified sports cars to fire-breathing monsters with enough aerodynamic aids to press the car into the center of the earth.

This widebody 900-hp Nissan GT-R R34 falls into the latter category. Thanks to a seriously massaged RB26DETT inline-six, it's putting nearly four digits of power to the pavement on the way to a 9,000-rpm redline.

In the video, you can see it launch with some serious gusto. Even more impressive is how fast it makes its way up the hill at the Simola Hillclimb in South Africa.

If this looks like something you’d like to check out and you live in the Midwest, come check out the Empire Hill Climb Revival on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The Empire Hill Climb Revival is held annually in the town of Empire, Michigan. The event began in 1964 and was held until 1980. In 2014, it was revived by a group of local enthusiasts and has been gaining popularity ever since.

The hillclimb is free to attend, and the hillside offers plenty of great vantage points for spectating as the cars wind their way up the ¾ mile eight-turn course. There will be a parc expose in downtown Empire before the start of the race where you can see the cars and talk with drivers. The course is also just a short walk from the shores of Lake Michigan.

Competitor registration is already full, but there is a waitlist available. You can also be a volunteer at the hill climb. If you’d just like to come up to see cool cars and hang out with the Autoweek staff, that’s great too. Either way, you should definitely be in Empire, Michigan, on Sept. 15.
