Announcing a new crackdown on illegal immigrants who commit crimes, Attorney General Jeff Sessions declined to use the adjective “filth” that was in his prepared text.
Sessions was speaking first of transnational gangs like MS-13 and international cartels.
The prepared text read: “It is here, on this sliver of land, where we first take our stand against this filth.”

But Sessions said: “It is here, on this sliver of land, on this border, where we first take our stand.”
Sessions, speaking in Nogales, Ariz., with customs and border protection officials, said those who unlawfully enter the country twice will be charged with a felony, instead of a misdemeanor.
Critics have said that since the election of President Donald Trump, the crackdown has been on otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants and not violent ones.
