It’s tax day — do you know where your dollars are going?

Last year, according to the National Priorities Project, more than half of every tax dollar went toward just two items in the federal budget: health care and the military.

Just 3.2 cents, for example, went to transportation programs, and even less — 2.8 cents — went to education.

In the future, however, there’s the real possibility that these numbers could change dramatically. As the organization notes, President Donald Trump has proposed deep cuts across the government with the exception of the military and border control.

NPP is a nonpartisan federal budget research organization whose funding has come from individuals and foundations like the Ford Foundation and Open Society Foundations, according to a recent annual report.
