Charlie Murphy, the well-known comedian and older brother to Eddie Murphy, has died, TMZ reports. He was 57.
Murphy’s manager told TMZ Wednesday the funnyman and actor had died from leukemia, after undergoing chemotherapy. His family believed the TV and film actor, a longtime resident of Englewood, was improving.
Murphy appeared in several of his brother’s films, including “Norbit” and “Vampire in Brooklyn.” The New York native was also well-known as a skit actor on Dave Chappelle’s “Chappelle’s Show” and toured recently with Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez and D.L. Hughley on “The Comedy Get Down,” TMZ says.
Murphy is survived by three children, two of whose mother died in 2009 of cervical cancer.
