“MTV Beach House” fans rejoice — the network has decided to revive the iconic ’90s show starting this month, according to their website.
MTV executives say that the music-based show’s 2017 reboot will appeal to “a new generation of fans” and will be hosted by Nessa of “Girl Code,” Cody Christian of “Teen Wolf” and Chico Bean of “Wild’n Out.”
While the Beach House started as an hour-long music video block, the show evolved into a mix of live music performances and guest appearances. Fans of the show can expect the 2017 reboot to feature more artists and celebrity guests.
The program will be filmed in the Loveladies section of Long Beach Township in Long Beach Island starting Thursday and will feature the first-ever MTV Beach House Festival with headliners MisterWives, KYLE and more. Fans can enter a sweepstakes for tickets to the Beach House Festival by following @MTV on Twitter and retweeting their sweepstakes tweets.
The newest version of the giant summer beach party will include behind-the-scenes and all-access Beach House footage across MTV, Comedy Central, and Spike social and digital channels during the month of June, according to a statement from MTV.
This exclusive content is something that executives want to add to provide viewer’s with an experience unlike any other since the show’s debut back in 1993.
“Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook Live didn’t even exist when we last opened the MTV Beach House as the ultimate summer hangout for our audience 14 years ago,” said MTV vice president of integrated marketing Matthew Newcomb. “We’re thrilled to partner with Men Dew Spiked Lemonade to bring back the Beach House in a totally updated way that speaks to a new generation of digitally native fans.”
“MTV Beach House” will now join “Fear Factor” and “My Super Sweet 16” as the latest in a series of reboots the network is pushing.
