New Jersey is food truck heaven.
Oink and Moo BBQ is the second best food truck in the country, with seven other N.J.-based food trucks on The Daily Meal’s 101 Best Food Trucks in America list.
The Cinnamon Snail came in at number 5, with Polkadot Cupcake at 25, Mannino’s Cannoli Express at 70, The Taco Truck at 78, Cupcake Carnivale at 83, Aroy-D The Thai Elephant at 94 and Five Sisters Catering at 101.
In addition, three other food trucks that make frequent appearances at Jersey festivals appear on the list – The Cow & the Curd (42), Red Hook Lobster Pound (50) and the Surf and Turf Truck (86).
The nation’s best food truck, according to The Daily Meal, is Food Fix Original Food Creations in Modesto, Cal.
The web site singled out Oink and Moo’s “beef brisket or pulled pork barbecue done well (not well done) in the form of sliders, chili, tacos, quesadillas and ribs.”
Of the Cinnamon Snail, it said: “Not only does TCS serve high-quality food, it checks all the other boxes too,” with special mention of the red curry grilled tofu and smoked sage seitan burger.
Patrons “obviously adore the cupcakes at Polkadot, including classics like the signature red velvet and birthday cake varieties,” The Daily Meal said.
Daily Meal’s ranking was drawn from a master list of 200-plus food trucks around the country. Each truck was researched individually, with the web site looking at social media followings to measure popularity, plus assessing customer reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor, yelp, Zomato, Roaming Hunger and elsewhere.
