HOBOKEN — An increasingly popular, Australian-inspired premium coffee shop with a number of locations in New York City, Brooklyn and Philadelphia is opening its first New Jersey location in Hoboken on April 3.
Bluestone Lane will open a store at 409 Washington St. where they will be serving serve their artisan coffee and various food items just across the river from Manhattan. The coffee company, which is inspired by the “coffee culture hub” of Melbourne, Australia, first opened in New York 2013.
“We have had a huge amount of demand on our website pestering us to open a New Jersey location,” said Andy Stone, Bluestone Lane’s marketing director and brother of the founder, Nick Stone. “We love the area. We have been looking at it for awhile. It is the perfect timing of space being available and demand from locals.”
The Stone brothers are from Australia and Andy said the “premium Australian healthy cuisine and coffee” the shop offers is inspired by their “Melbourne upbringing.” The city is famed for its alleyways and nooks lined with artisanal cafes.
Coffee options include classic items such as espresso, cappuccino, chai lattes, but also feature items such as a “long black,” which is hot water with a double espresso resting on top, and their cold brew, which is their “flagstaff blend” brewed in room temperature water for 12 hours.
Food items include various sandwiches, such as a salmon or caprese sandwich, and breakfast items such as waffles, oatmeal and assorted toast options. Stone said on the weekends, they will serve an extended food menu.
Bluestone Lane also has locations opening soon in Westchester, King of Prussia and San Francisco.
“We have had the organic growth to keep opening stores,” Stone said. “There are some exciting developments happening this year. The Hoboken location is going to be fantastic. We are excited to join the New Jersey area.”
