Most Americans are not happy with President Trump’s first 100 days: Poll

President Trump’s first 100 days in office are nearly up, but his numbers continue to fall.

According to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll 45 percent of Americans believe that Trump is off to a “poor start,” while an additional 19 percent believe he’s only off to a “fair start.”

Despite the public’s displeasure, Trump sees things a bit differently. At a recent event in Wisconsin, Trump touted his administration’s accomplishments during their first 100 days saying, “No administration has accomplished more in the first 90 days — that includes on military, on the border, on trade, on regulation, on law enforcement — we love our law enforcement — and on government reform.”

Most recently Trump tweeted about how he believes a president’s first 100 days in office is a “ridiculous standard,” a position he didn’t always have. On his website Trump unveiled a contract for his supporters to sign with him and in the contract he listed all of his promises for his first 100 days. Upon taking office Trump has ultimately failed at keeping the majority of his promises.

Trump’s approval rating stands at 40 percent which is four points lower than his rating in February, and the lowest approval rating of any new president up to this point in the poll’s history. When asked if Trump’s has been as effective as his predecessor’s, 44 percent believe Trump has been less effective, while 32 percent said he’s been more effective.

Other numbers for Trump are slipping as well. Only 25 percent of Americans give the president high marks for being honest and trustworthy which is down from 34 percent from February.
