Andre Ward appreciates another East Bay legend returning home for athletic pursuits.
Ward wished Marshawn Lynch well Wednesday after the Oakland native was obtained by the Raiders, who posted a video message from the boxer to Beast Mode.
“I want to give a big shoutout to the Oakland Raiders and my boy Marshawn Lynch for getting that deal done,” the two-weight world champion said. “Man, I had my fingers crossed, big dawg. I’m happy you’re here, bro.”
Ward trains in Oakland and may have visited Lynch at the NFL star’s Beast Mode Apparel store while Lynch took a year off from football. Ward expressed adoration for Lynch on Wednesday.
“You know we love you out here in the Bay. Go do what you do this year,” Ward said, before finishing with, “Beast Mode.”
Sounds like Ward expects Lynch to light up Oakland Coliseum. It’s easy to guess Ward will be on hand at some point during the 2017 season to check out Beast Mode in person.
