MOUNTAIN VIEW — A prep baseball showdown for first place in the West Coast Athletic League never took place Tuesday. Host St. Francis forfeited following a “violation of school and athletics policy.”
“This decision was made this afternoon,” St. Francis athletic director Mike Pilawski said. “We noticed Serra about it today.”
Varsity baseball vs. Serra HS scheduled for today at 4pm will not be played due to a forfeit by Saint Francis.

Serra (10-4, 6-1 WCAL), which won the first meeting between the Central Coast Section rivals 4-2 on March 14, now sits atop the standings.
St. Francis (9-4, 6-2), the back-to-back CCS Open Division champion, was coming off a 6-5 victory in 11 innings at Bellarmine last week. The Lancers will return to practice Wednesday and resume play Friday at home against St. Ignatius.
Both teams will take part in next week’s Boras Baseball Classic, a 32-team invitational in its fifth year.
