PORTLAND — The pregame injury news continues to swing in Portland’s direction.
Hours after the Warriors announced that head coach Steve Kerr would miss the game due to an illness and only minutes after revealing that Kevin Durant, Matt Barnes and Shaun Livingston would remain out with minor ailments, the Blazers announced that center Jusuf Nurkic would return and start in Game 3 on Saturday night.
Nurkic has missed the past few weeks with a leg fracture, sitting the first two games of this series as Portland struggled to get any kind of decent production beyond their star backcourt.
The Blazers originally listed Nurkic as doubtful for Game 3, but after working out hard pregame, they felt he was ready to return. He will start opposite Zaza Pachulia and give the Warriors a tougher task on the interior. Nurkic is a talented post scorer, good rebounder and able shot-blocker.
