Charlie Moore, the Cal basketball guard who left the Bears shortly after coach Cuonzo Martin took the job at Missouri, is transferring to Kansas.
Scout.com reported Tuesday that the sophomore-to-be chose the Jayhawks over Illinois and a number of other schools. Moore is from Chicago and said he wanted to be closer to home when he announced that he was leaving Cal.
“I’m going to attend Kansas,” Moore told scout.com. “I just thought it was the best decision for me. It’s closer to home and it’s a winning program and the coaches were good to me.”
Moore averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists for the Bears last season. He made 45 three-pointers.
Unless he is granted a waiver by the NCAA, Moore will have to sit out the 2017-18 season. He will then have three years of eligibility.
