UPDATE: There is a change from the lineup that the Diamondbacks PR staff distributed to reporters. Joe Panik is hitting ninth and Madison Bumgarner is hitting eighth, and that has been corrected from the original post. That was how Bruce Bochy planned to go all along. There was no change of heart. It was a miscommunication between the Giants and Diamondbacks.

One more thing: Hunter Pence does not appear to be downcast over his .183 average this spring. He exited the cage and beamed as he walked through the dugout, saying, “Happy Christmas day for adults who love baseball!” -AB

PHOENIX — Now the Giants find out if Hunter Pence’s spring slump means anything. Now the Diamondbacks find out if Zack Greinke’s 88-89 mph radar readings mean anything.

After an interminable spring, now it counts. The Giants and Diamondbacks lift the lid on the season at 1:10 p.m. PDT at Chase Field. Here are lineups for both clubs, with one twist from Giants manager Bruce Bochy. He has Eduardo Nuñez hitting sixth instead of ninth, instead slotting Joe Panik behind pitcher Madison Bumgarner.

Nuñez breaks up the left-handers a bit better. The Diamondbacks have three lefties in their bullpen.
