PG&E outage hits West San Jose

An outage Monday evening left thousands of PG&E customers in western San Jose without power.

The blackout started around 7:45 p.m., knocking out electricity to some 5,700 customers, said Karly Hernandez, a PG&E spokeswoman. By 10:15 p.m., some 1,470 customers were still without power, Hernandez said.

Hernandez did not have an immediate explanation for the outage.

“The cause is still under investigation,” she said.

Initially, the blackout affected an area north and south of Interstate 280 just west of Saratoga Ave. Late in the evening, it was still affecting an area along Johnson Avenue, south of Interstate 280.
