One Raiders fan was so upset with the team leaving Oakland for Las Vegas he vowed to burn any of his Raiders items he couldn’t sell, including his Kenny Stabler jersey.
That didn’t sit well with Stabler’s daughter, Kendra Stabler Moyes, who wrote an impassioned email to lifelong Raiders fan Michael Paredero after hearing about his ad on Craigslist. Paredero, a 55-year-old from Lodi, is looking to sell his Raiders helmet, sweatshirts, flags and replica jerseys of Hall of Famer Stabler and Derek Carr.
And he was billing it as a fire sale, claiming to take any items that didn’t sell and toss them into a bonfire.
Paredero, though, had a change of heart after Stabler’s daughter sent him an email, according to SFGate.com.
“I know you are angry, we all are … but please don’t burn my dad’s jersey. Makes me sad to think of his jersey burning,” Stabler Moyes wrote in her email to Paredero.
Her response touched Paredero, who decided not to torch the jerseys.
“I’m not going to retaliate against the players,” he told SFGate.
If nothing else, Raiders fans should be heartened to still see a Stabler deftly handling a tense situation.
